Science

Primary 5 have enjoyed a range of science experiments as part of our Human Body Topic.

We used lemon juice and crackers to show how the stomach uses acid to help break down our food.

Gabriella and Rebecca are testing the difference between the crackers with lemon juice and the ones without. Which was easier to crush?

Aiden did not like the look of the cracker after it had been crushed and mixed with lemon juice! This is how it looks in
 your stomach!

We also used milk, food colouring and dish soap to show how the liver uses bile to break down fats in the body. The dish soap breaks down the fat in the milk and the colours start to swirl around the plate!

Huda adds the soap to the milk mixture.
Everyone was very interested to see what happened next!

Abbie, Aaron and Elle watch the food colouring swirl around as the fat in the milk breaks down.
